The completed look

Before The Plant Store

The brief
The design was crafted to complement the clean lines and contemporary style of this modernist house. The client envisioned a lush, dynamic garden that included outdoor living areas and sufficient lawn space. With a focus on year-round interest, the planting plan balances evergreen structured forms with soft, flowing seasonal textures.

Why we chose these plants
For screening and privacy, hedging plants such as Camellia Setsugekka and pleached Prunus lusitanica were selected to create lush green walls that frame the outdoor spaces and soften the appearance of the fence structure. Thuja Smaragd and Laurus nobilis, in both column and standard forms, serve as striking focal points, adding vertical interest and anchoring key outdoor areas.
Seasonal flowering interest is provided by flowering plants like Hydrangea Limelight, Rhododendron Pawhuska, Anemone Honorine Jobert, and Helleborus Jacob, ensuring vibrant color and texture throughout the year.
To balance the structured elements, soft, flowing textures from Miscanthus sinensis and Lomandra Lime Tuff were incorporated, while flowering accents such as Paeonia Sarah Bernhardt, Agapanthus Finn, and Polygonatum introduce dynamic color and movement. Carpet thyme adds ground-level interest on arrival and contributes a unique fragrance.
To further soften walls and hard structures, fragrant climbers like Wisteria Snow Showers and Trachelospermum jasminoides were included. Together, these plants form a lush, harmonious garden that combines structure, color, and seasonal interest.
