Lomandra Lime Tuff
Lomandra Lime Tuff is a compact and extremely hardy Australian native grass. Known for its bright, fine foliage that maintains its lush appearance even in challenging conditions, this plant offers year-round visual appeal. It presents as a neat mound of arching lime-green leaves that gives a soft, lush look.
Lomandra Lime Tuff is renowned for its hardiness, being both drought and frost resistant and tolerating a range of soils. It performs exceptionally well in full sun to part shade and requires minimal maintenance once established, making it an excellent choice for borders, mass plantings or as a low-maintenance garden filler. It has compact growth habit of around 0.5m high and wide.
Trimming: Trim back any dead or damaged foliage as needed to maintain a neat appearance. In late winter or early spring, cut back the entire plant to about 15 cm above the ground to rejuvenate growth.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support healthy growth. Lomandra Lime Tuff is low-maintenance and generally does not require heavy feeding.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase. Once established, Lomandra Lime Tuff is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry periods. Ensure the soil is well-draining to prevent root rot.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free, but keep an eye out for occasional infestations of aphids or scale insects. Treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if necessary.
Disease Management: Lomandra Lime Tuff is typically disease-resistant. Ensure good air circulation and proper drainage to prevent any potential fungal issues. Avoid waterlogging the soil, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot. If root rot occurs, improve soil drainage and remove affected plants.
