Why We Chose These Plants

To create a cohesive, classic garden that meets the client's brief, we began by establishing the structure with trees and larger shrubs.

Rhododendron Pawhuska was selected for its evergreen nature and striking white flowers in spring, providing year-round structure and seasonal interest. Cornus Greenvale, a small semi-deciduous tree, was chosen to add height and add to the structure of the garden, with its mesmorising flowers appearing late spring,  while allowing light to filter through during winter months, preventing unnecessary shade.

For the fillers, we added Hosta June for its lush spring foliage, which helps suppress weeds and adds a cohesive look. Paeonia Sarah Bernhardt was chosen for its soft pink flowers in early summer, offering flowers that can be cut and brought inside. Gaura So White offers delicate white flowers that appear from early summer to autumn, ensuring continuous floral interest.

Helleborus Ivory Prince produces early spring flowers, thriving in shaded areas and filling ground space to minimize weed growth. Hydrangea Limelight provides substantial summer flowers that persist into autumn, offering significant visual appeal during the garden's peak usage. Anemone Honorine Jobert extends the flowering season into autumn with its elegant white flowers, ensuring the garden remains attractive as the seasons change. Finally, Daphne Perfume Princess White offers fragrant white flowers in late winter to early spring, enhancing the sensory experience and contributing to year-round structure and interest.

The garden has been designed to offer a strong visual presence from inside the house, creating a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Collectively, these plants work together to create a welcoming and interesting garden throughout the year, aligning perfectly with the client's preferences and the modern/classic style they desired.
