Notify MeJuglans nigra, also known as black walnut, is a very valuable tree known for not only ornamental purposes but also medicinal. This walnut tree is a large growing, lush-green, broad-leaved tree which can reach an average height of 30m. The name comes from the bark, which is very dark and ridged and is seen at a young age. In spring the flowers of the tree will begin to fruit. For best growth this tree needs to be planted in a well-sheltered area that has good drainage for the soil.
