Corynocarpus laevigatus

Corynocarpus laevigatus is a great evergreen that can be used for hedging or as a specimen tree. This is a beautiful, upright, dense, bushy-topped tree with large, shiny-green foliage which also produces ornamental vibrant-orange fruit.

Trimming: Trim only as needed to remove dead, damaged, or wayward growth and to maintain a tidy shape. Corynocarpus laevigatus generally requires very little routine pruning.

Fertilising: Apply compost or a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring to support healthy, steady growth.

Watering: Water regularly while the plant is establishing. Once established, water only during extended dry periods, provided the soil is free-draining.

Pest control: This plant is generally resistant to serious pest issues, but check new growth for scale insects and signs of sooty mould. Treat with horticultural oil if needed.

Disease management: Disease problems are uncommon, but watch for leaf yellowing, root issues in poorly drained soil, and occasional fungal problems where air circulation is poor. Improve drainage, avoid overwatering, and remove affected material promptly.
