Ozothamnus Radiance
Ozothamnus Radiance is a compact, evergreen shrub prized for its soft, silvery-grey foliage and tidy, rounded form. In late Spring to early Summer, it produces clusters of small, white flowers that sit neatly above the foliage, attracting pollinators and adding subtle seasonal interest. Its striking foliage and low-maintenance nature make it a standout in both native and ornamental gardens.
Ideal for coastal, native, or contemporary garden styles, Ozothamnus Radiance is perfect for low hedging, borders, or feature planting. It thrives in full sun with free-draining soil and is tolerant of dry conditions, wind, and coastal exposure once established. Space approximately 50-60 cm apart for hedging or mass planting.
Forms a dense, rounded shrub approximately 1 metre high and 1 metre wide.
Trimming: Lightly prune after flowering to maintain a compact, tidy shape and encourage dense new growth. Avoid cutting into old wood, as it may not reshoot well. Regular light trimming also helps extend the plant's lifespan.
Deadheading: Not essential, but removing spent flower heads can enhance appearance and encourage a cleaner form.
Fertilising: Apply a low-phosphorus, slow-release fertiliser in spring, particularly in poor soils. Avoid overfeeding, as Radiance performs best in low-nutrient conditions.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, it is drought tolerant and requires minimal watering-only during prolonged dry periods.
Pest Control: Typically pest-free. Monitor occasionally for sap-sucking insects like scale or aphids-treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if needed.
Disease Management: Very low disease risk. Ensure free-draining soil to prevent root issues. Avoid overhead watering and ensure good airflow to minimise fungal problems, especially in humid conditions.
