Camellia Rosaeflora Cascade

Camellia Rosaeflora Cascade is a graceful, evergreen shrub known for its soft pink, rose-shaped flowers that appear from late winter through early spring. The cascading habit gives it a naturally arching form, allowing the dainty flowers to hang elegantly among glossy, deep green foliage. Its long flowering period and compact shape make it an excellent choice for year-round structure and seasonal colour.

Ideal for woodland, formal, and shaded gardens, Camellia Rosaeflora Cascade is perfect for borders, feature planting, or containers in sheltered spots. It thrives in part shade with acidic, free-draining soil rich in organic matter and benefits from consistent moisture. Space approximately 1 to 1.5 metres apart in garden settings.

Forms a compact, arching shrub reaching around 1.2 to 1.5 metres high and 1.2 metres wide.

Trimming: Lightly prune after flowering to maintain a graceful, cascading shape. Remove any dead, damaged or congested branches. Avoid heavy pruning, as this may reduce next season’s flowering.

Deadheading: Recommended. Gently remove spent flowers to keep the plant tidy and reduce the risk of petal blight and fungal issues.

Fertilising: Apply a fertiliser formulated for acid-loving plants in early spring after flowering, and again in midsummer if needed. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers, which can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment and in dry periods. Camellias prefer consistently moist, well-draining, acidic soil. Mulch with pine bark or leaf mould to conserve moisture and protect shallow roots.

Pest Control: Monitor for scale insects, aphids and spider mites. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil if infestations occur. Keep the foliage clean and healthy to deter pests.

Disease Management: Watch for petal blight, especially in humid conditions. Remove spent blooms and avoid overhead watering. Root rot can occur in poorly drained soils, so ensure proper drainage and avoid overwatering. Clean up fallen petals and leaves to reduce fungal risk.
