Calluna Kinlochruel

Calluna Kinlochruel, like most callunas, is a compact, dark-green, compact shrub. Kinlochruel has white flowers that smother the plant in late summer through to autumn. 

Callunas flower from February to October (depending on variety) and often through winter, when there is not a lot flowering in the garden. The bees are very appreciative as they provide nectar and pollen in the winter when not a lot else is about for them. 

As for easy care, callunas are pretty much as easy going as you get. Once they are established they are drought tolerant. Just keep them weeded and they will maintain a compact tight habit and provide you with masses of flower year after year. They like the sun, are very winter hardy and can tolerate both the coast and inland spots. They work well planted en masse.
