Callistemon Kings Park Special

Callistemon Kings Park Special is an outstanding variety of bottlebrush, renowned for its vibrant red flowers that can be enjoyed from spring and intermittently throughout the summer. This evergreen shrub was originally selected for cultivation at Kings Park and Botanic Garden in Perth, Australia, hence its name, and is celebrated for its robust growth and spectacular floral display.

Serves as a striking specimen plant or can be used as part of a mixed shrub border to add a splash of colour. Its dense, bushy habit also makes it ideal for use as a privacy hedge or screen. The bright red bottlebrush flowers are not only visually appealing but also attract a variety of pollinators, including bees and birds, particularly nectar-feeding species which contribute to enhancing biodiversity in the garden.

Thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained soil. It is remarkably adaptable, tolerant of poor soils, and once established, it is frost and drought-resistant, making it suitable for xeriscaping in arid climates.

Grows to approx. 4m high x 2m wide. Can be pruned back heavily if necessary, which can help to maintain its shape and encourage denser growth. Regular pruning also promotes more vigorous flowering.
