Rudbeckia Primadonna White
Notify MeRudbeckia Primadonna White is a striking perennial featuring large, daisy-like flowers with pure white petals surrounding a prominent greenish-brown central cone. Flowering from mid-summer through to early autumn, it adds bold structure and brightness to garden beds, borders, and cut flower arrangements. With a strong, upright habit reaching around 70-90 cm high and 40-50 cm wide, it brings height and contrast to cottage, prairie, and contemporary garden styles.
Prefers full sun and thrives in well-draining, moderately fertile soil. Space plants 40-50 cm apart to support healthy airflow and upright growth. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering, and cut back spent stems in late autumn to prepare for the next season. Drought-tolerant once established.
Trimming: Remove spent flower stems and faded foliage regularly to keep the plant tidy and encourage ongoing flowering. At the end of the season, allow foliage to die back naturally before removing.
Deadheading: Deadhead frequently throughout the flowering period to prolong blooming and maintain a clean appearance.
Fertilising: Apply a low-nitrogen, high-potassium liquid fertiliser every 2-3 weeks during the growing season to support flowering and healthy tuber development.
Watering: Water regularly during active growth, keeping the soil moist but well-drained. Reduce watering as the plant enters dormancy in autumn and keep just barely moist over winter if kept in containers.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free, though slugs may occasionally feed on new shoots-use organic controls if needed.
Disease Management: Ensure good drainage to prevent rot, especially in cooler months. Avoid overwatering and remove any soft or discoloured growth to maintain plant health.
