Gazania New Day Bronze
Notify MeGazania New Day Bronze is a compact, sun-loving perennial featuring rich bronze-orange daisy-like flowers with a dark central eye, offering bold colour from spring through to autumn. The blooms open in bright sunlight and are held above low, silvery-green foliage, creating a striking contrast. Reaching approximately 20-25 cm high and spreading 30-40 cm wide, it’s ideal for Mediterranean, coastal, rockery, and low-maintenance garden styles.
Plant in full sun with free-draining soil. Drought-tolerant once established and well-suited to hot, dry conditions. Space plants 25-30 cm apart for full coverage. Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous flowering. Avoid overly wet or heavy soils, especially during winter.
Trimming: Lightly trim to remove any leggy or untidy growth and maintain a compact shape. At season’s end, cut back or remove entirely if grown as an annual.
Deadheading: Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flowering and keep the plant neat.
Fertilising: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser to support strong growth and vibrant flowering, particularly in nutrient-poor soils.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, Gazania ‘New Day Bronze’ is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during extended dry spells. Ensure well-drained soil.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free, but monitor for aphids and whiteflies. Treat early with insecticidal soap or neem oil if required.
Disease Management: Prevent root rot by ensuring good drainage. Avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of mildew or other fungal issues. Promptly remove any damaged or diseased foliage.
