Gazania Cream
Notify MeGazania Cream is a compact, sun-loving perennial featuring soft cream-coloured, daisy-like flowers with a subtle central ring, adding a gentle touch to bright garden spaces. Flowering from spring through to autumn, the flowers open in direct sunlight and are set against low, silver-green foliage. Reaching around 20-25 cm high and spreading 30-40 cm wide, it’s well-suited to coastal, Mediterranean, rockery, and low-maintenance garden styles.
Thrives in full sun with free-draining soil and tolerates drought and coastal conditions once established. Space plants 25-30 cm apart for effective ground coverage. Remove spent flowers to encourage ongoing flowering. Avoid overly wet or poorly drained soil, particularly in winter.
Trimming: Trim back leggy or untidy growth as needed to maintain a compact shape. Cut back at the end of the flowering season to refresh the plant or remove if grown as an annual.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flowers to encourage continuous flowering and keep the plant neat.
Fertilising: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser, particularly if grown in poor or sandy soils, to support vibrant flowering.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, Gazania ‘Cream’ is drought-tolerant but will flower more consistently with occasional deep watering in dry periods. Ensure well-drained soil.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free, though monitor for aphids and whiteflies. Treat infestations early with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
Disease Management: Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot. Avoid overhead watering to minimise fungal issues such as mildew. Remove any affected foliage promptly to maintain plant health.
