Gaura Mini Pink
Notify MeGaura lindheimeri Mini Pink is a compact, clump-forming perennial with slender stems bearing soft pink, butterfly-like flowers from late spring through to autumn. Its airy appearance and long flowering season make it ideal for borders, cottage gardens, containers, and low-maintenance planting.
Plant in full sun with free-draining soil. Drought-tolerant once established and thrives in hot, dry conditions. Cut back spent flower stems to encourage repeat flowering and prune lightly in late winter to maintain a tidy shape. Space plants 30 to 40 centimetres apart for best display.
Grows to around 30 to 40 centimetres tall and wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim after each flowering flush to maintain a compact shape and encourage repeat flowering. Cut back hard in late winter or early spring to rejuvenate the plant.
Deadheading: Remove spent flower stems regularly to prolong flowering and keep the plant tidy.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring. In poorer soils, a light liquid feed every four to six weeks during the growing season can support continuous flowering.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during extended dry periods. Ensure soil is well drained.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free. Occasionally check for aphids or spider mites on new growth and treat with insecticidal soap if needed.
Disease Management: Ensure good airflow and avoid overhead watering to minimise the risk of powdery mildew or fungal leaf spots. Remove any discoloured foliage and use well-draining soil to prevent root issues.
