Alstroemeria Princess Lily Mulan
Notify MeAlstroemeria Princess Lily Mulan is a compact, long-flowering perennial with striking bi-coloured flowers in deep rose-pink and soft yellow, highlighted by fine burgundy markings. Flowering from late spring through to early autumn, it brings vivid colour to borders, containers, and cut flower arrangements. Reaching around 40-60 cm high and wide, its tidy, upright habit makes it a versatile addition to cottage, subtropical, or modern garden designs.
Best planted in full sun to partial shade with free-draining, moderately moist soil. Space plants 30-40 cm apart to allow for natural clump formation and airflow. Mulch annually to retain soil moisture and provide root protection over cooler months.
Trimming: Trim back spent stems after flowering to encourage fresh growth and prolong the display. In late autumn or early winter, cut back the foliage to just above ground level once it yellows.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flowers to promote continued flowering and reduce self-seeding.
Fertilising: Feed with a high-potassium fertiliser (such as tomato food) every 2-3 weeks during the flowering season to support prolific flowering.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and throughout dry periods, particularly in summer. Keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
Pest Control: Watch for slugs and snails, which may damage young shoots. Use slug bait or organic deterrents as needed.
Disease Management: Alstroemeria can be susceptible to botrytis (grey mould), especially in damp, humid conditions. Look for grey, fuzzy mould on leaves or stems and remove affected parts promptly. Improve air circulation and avoid overhead watering to reduce risk.
