Blooming abundantly from late spring through to autumn, this Peruvian Lily brings a vibrant touch to garden borders, patio containers, and floral arrangements. Its tidy clumping habit and lush green foliage provide structure and enduring beauty throughout the growing season.
Perfect for cottage gardens, mixed borders, or pots in sunny or partially shaded areas. Thrives in well-draining, fertile soil with regular watering during the growing season. Mulch in winter to protect the roots and encourage healthy regrowth. Plant with 30–40 cm spacing for a dense, colourful effect.
Reaches a mature height of 30–40 cm and spreads up to 30 cm, creating a compact, radiant feature ideal for adding warmth to any garden or outdoor space.
Trimming: Remove spent stems at the base after flowering to encourage continuous growth. In late autumn or early spring, cut back old foliage to make way for new shoots.
Deadheading: Regularly remove faded flowers to prolong the flowering season and prevent seed formation.
Fertilising: Apply a high-potassium fertiliser every two weeks during the flowering season to support blooms. A slow-release fertiliser in spring can also promote healthy growth.
Watering: Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods. Avoid waterlogging by ensuring good drainage.
Pest Control: Look out for slugs, snails, and aphids, which may attack the plant. Use organic pellets or insecticidal soap to manage infestations.
Disease Management: Alstroemeria is prone to root rot and botrytis (grey mould) in poorly drained or humid conditions. Ensure well-drained soil and good air circulation, and remove any affected foliage promptly.
