The rich red petals, accented with subtle dark markings, make it a standout in borders, containers, or floral arrangements. Its lush green foliage and long-lasting flowers add vibrant colour and texture to the garden, while its neat growth habit makes it easy to maintain.
Perfect for cottage gardens, mixed borders, or patio pots. Thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile, well-draining soil. Water regularly during the growing season and mulch in winter to protect the roots. Plant with 30–40 cm spacing for a dense, colourful display.
Reaches a mature height of 30–40 cm and spreads approximately 30 cm, offering compact, showy colour that works well in both small and large spaces.
Trimming: Remove spent stems at the base after flowering to encourage continuous growth. In late autumn or early spring, cut back old foliage to make way for new shoots.
Deadheading: Regularly remove faded flowers to prolong the flowering season and prevent seed formation.
Fertilising: Apply a high-potassium fertiliser every two weeks during the flowering season to support blooms. A slow-release fertiliser in spring can also promote healthy growth.
Watering: Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods. Avoid waterlogging by ensuring good drainage.
Pest Control: Look out for slugs, snails, and aphids, which may attack the plant. Use organic pellets or insecticidal soap to manage infestations.
Disease Management: Alstroemeria is prone to root rot and botrytis (grey mould) in poorly drained or humid conditions. Ensure well-drained soil and good air circulation, and remove any affected foliage promptly.
