Philodendron Gold Bullion PBR is a rare golden form of the hardy Thaumatophyllum xanadu. This clumping plant develops woody stems with eye-shaped leaf scars, while new foliage unfurls in bright gold before maturing into bold, hand-sized pinnate leaves.
Great for beginners or experienced plant keepers, it grows well indoors in bright indirect light or outdoors in frost-free, semi-shaded spots. It prefers free-draining soil kept evenly moist in warm months and benefits from feeding in spring through to autumn.
Mature size: Grows to about 1 m tall and 1 m wide as a multi-stemmed clump.
Trimming: Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves at the base to keep the plant tidy.
Fertilising: Feed with a balanced liquid or slow-release fertiliser every 4–6 weeks from spring to autumn.
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during the warmer months. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings in cooler months.
Pest Control: Check for scale, mealybugs, and aphids indoors or in sheltered spots. Wipe leaves and treat promptly if pests appear.
Disease Management: Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot. Ensure good airflow around the plant and remove any affected foliage.
