Notify MeColocasia Hawaiian Punch is an impressive variety with bright-green, red-ribbed leaves, held up high on bright-red stems. Serving as a stunning garden or pondside accent plant, it brings a touch of the tropics to any setting. It's suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments, though it's important to note that it is frost-sensitive and needs a sheltered location safe from winds. With the right care, Hawaiian Punch can grow up to 90cm in both height and width.
Trimming: Remove old, yellowing, or damaged leaves at the base to keep the plant tidy and encourage fresh growth. Trim away any collapsed foliage after cold damage.
Fertilising: Fertilise regularly through spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser to support strong, lush leaf growth. Reduce feeding in cooler months when growth slows.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during active growth, especially during establishment and extreme dry periods. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, but ensure the plant is not sitting in stagnant water.
Pest Control: Watch for aphids, mites, mealybugs, and slugs or snails. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap, horticultural oil, or suitable slug and snail control.
Disease Management: Monitor for root rot, leaf spot, and fungal leaf diseases. Signs include yellowing leaves, mushy stems, dark leaf spots, or wilting despite moist soil. Improve airflow, remove affected foliage, avoid overhead watering where possible, and ensure good drainage to reduce disease risk.
