Lomandra Arctic Frost
Lomandra Arctic Frost is a striking, clump-forming grass-like perennial featuring fine, arching green leaves edged in creamy white. Its graceful foliage brings year-round texture and colour contrast to the garden, while small, lightly fragrant yellow flower spikes appear in Spring, adding subtle seasonal interest.
Renowned for its tolerance to drought, wind, and light frost, Lomandra Arctic Frost performs well in exposed sites and challenging conditions. It is particularly effective in mass planting, borders, or containers, and suits modern, coastal, and low-maintenance garden designs. Plant in full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil. Water moderately during establishment, then infrequently. Allow 50–70 cm spacing for best effect.
Mature Size (H x W): 60 cm x 65 cm
Trimming: Lightly trim back spent or damaged foliage in late winter to encourage fresh growth and maintain a tidy form. For mass plantings or edging, trim uniformly with shears or a line trimmer.
Fertilising: Apply a slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support new growth. Avoid high-phosphorus fertilisers, which can stress the plant.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment (first 8-12 weeks). Once established, it is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during extended dry periods.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free, though occasional sap-sucking insects such as scale may appear. Treat with horticultural oil if needed.
Disease Management: Rarely affected by disease. Ensure good drainage and avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. Remove any yellowing or rotting foliage to maintain plant health.
