Ideal for use in garden beds, borders, and containers. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, making it a versatile option for various garden settings. This plant prefers well-draining soil and can tolerate a range of soil types, including sandy or loamy soils. Regular watering is important, particularly during dry periods, to maintain its vibrant foliage, but it is relatively drought-tolerant once established. For best results, plant Cordyline Super Red 60 to 90 cm apart. This spacing ensures each plant has enough room to grow and develop its striking foliage.
At maturity, Cordyline Super Red reaches a height of about 3 m, making it a bold addition to any garden.
Trimming: Trim off any dead or damaged leaves to maintain the plant's neat appearance and encourage new growth. Remove lower leaves as they age to showcase the attractive red stems.
Fertilising: Feed in spring and summer with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser to support vibrant foliage and robust growth. Reduce feeding during the autumn and winter months.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained. During dry periods, increase watering to prevent the soil from drying out completely. Avoid overwatering, as Cordyline Super Red prefers slightly drier conditions.
Pest Control: Monitor for common pests such as spider mites, aphids, and scale insects. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil, and ensure good air circulation around the plant.
Disease Management: Watch for signs of fungal diseases like leaf spot and root rot. Ensure the soil has good drainage to prevent waterlogging. Remove affected leaves and apply a fungicide if necessary to control the spread of disease.
