Agapanthus Blue Ice is a compact variety featuring soft powder-blue flowers held above neat clumps of strappy green foliage. Flowering from mid to late summer, it adds a fresh, light touch to garden beds and borders.
Ideal for modern, coastal or low-maintenance gardens, this hardy perennial thrives in full sun to light shade with well-drained soil. Space plants 40 to 50 cm apart and water during extended dry spells. Avoid waterlogged areas to maintain plant health.
Mature size: Reaches 50–60 cm tall in flower, with a spread of around 40 cm.
Trimming: Cut back spent flower stems to the base after flowering. Remove any yellow or damaged leaves as needed.
Deadheading: Remove spent flowers promptly to tidy appearance and reduce self-seeding.
Fertilising: Apply a general-purpose slow-release fertiliser in spring.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, water during long dry spells only.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free. Occasionally check for snails or slugs around young growth.
Disease Management: Avoid waterlogged soil to prevent root rot. Ensure good drainage and remove any affected foliage.
