Fraxinus griffithii

Fraxinus griffithii is a fast-growing, small tree. This tree has shiny, pinnate-like foliage that can be shaped into any size or form. During summer fraxinus features large panicles of white flowers. Fraxinus griffithii is best grown in warm, well-drained areas. Great street tree or statement tree in your garden.  Grows to a maximum height of 4m.

Trimming: Trim in late winter or early spring to shape the canopy and remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light formative pruning while young helps develop a strong, balanced structure.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring to support healthy growth, particularly for young trees or those in poorer soils. Avoid overfeeding, as this can encourage soft, weak growth.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment, especially through the first couple of summers. Once established, Fraxinus griffithii is relatively tolerant of short dry periods, but will benefit from deep watering during prolonged dry spells.

Pest control: Monitor for aphids, scale, and leaf-chewing insects, which may cause distorted growth, sticky residue, or visible leaf damage. Treat minor infestations with horticultural oil or an appropriate insect spray if needed.

Disease management: Watch for signs of root rot in poorly drained soils, including yellowing leaves, wilting, or branch dieback. Improve drainage, avoid overwatering, and remove affected material where practical.
