Jasminum sambac Grand Duke Of Tuscany

Jasminum sambac Grand Duke Of Tuscany is a compact, evergreen jasmine prized for its highly fragrant, double white flowers that resemble miniature roses. From late spring through to autumn, the flowers stand out against glossy green foliage and are ideal for scented gardens and container growing.

Perfect for subtropical, tropical, and courtyard gardens, Jasminum sambac Grand Duke Of Tuscany is well-suited to pots, borders, or near outdoor living areas where its fragrance can be enjoyed. It prefers full sun to part shade, warm conditions, and free-draining soil with consistent moisture. Protect from heavy frost. Space approximately 60 to 80 cm apart when planting in groups.

Forms a compact, rounded shrub reaching around 1 to 1.2 metres high and 80 cm to 1 metre wide.

Trimming: Prune lightly after flowering to shape the plant and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, weak or tangled stems. A harder prune in early spring can help rejuvenate older or leggy plants.

Deadheading: Recommended. Remove spent flowers to promote continuous flowering and prevent seed formation, which can reduce flowering.

Fertilising: Feed every 4 to 6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser or one formulated for flowering plants. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.

Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during active growth and flowering. Water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry. Avoid overwatering and ensure the soil drains freely.

Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, whitefly and spider mites, especially on tender new growth. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil to treat infestations. Wipe down leaves regularly to discourage pests.

Disease Management: Ensure good airflow to prevent fungal problems such as leaf spot or powdery mildew. Avoid overhead watering and remove any affected foliage promptly. Root rot may occur in poorly drained soil - use a well-draining mix and avoid letting the plant sit in water.
