Magnolia loebneri Pink Cloud - Bare-Rooted

Magnolia loebneri Pink Cloud is a petite deciduous magnolia that graces the garden with a confetti of fluttery, star-shaped pink-white flowers. The outer petals sometimes exhibit a raspberry stripe, giving the buds a charming pink hue before they fully open. One of the notable features of Pink Cloud is its flowers' resistance to late-night frost damage, ensuring a prolonged display of its delicate beauty. Throughout the seasons, the dark green foliage provides a lush backdrop in summer and autumn, while the bare branches offer architectural interest in winter.

This magnolia is perfect for smaller gardens due to its upright growth habit. It serves as an elegant specimen plant, adding vertical interest to various garden styles, including cottage gardens, urban gardens, and mixed borders. The subtle raspberry-striped petals contribute a unique visual element, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the garden.

Magnolia loebneri Pink Cloud thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. It benefits from a sheltered position to protect its delicate flowers from strong winds. When planting, ensure a spacing of at least 2m between trees to accommodate its mature spread and promote healthy growth.

Grows with a broadly pyramidal habit up to 4m tall and 2m wide.

What is a bare-rooted tree?

Bare-rooted trees are deciduous trees that have been grown in the ground and are dug up when they've become dormant in the winter. The soil is shaken from their roots and they are bundled up with their roots packed in moist material to prevent dehydration during transport.

What are the benefits?

  • Less packaging and plastic waste involved in growing process and transportation.
  • Plant has more root mass as the roots have not been constricted and twisted by a pot.
  • They are easier to carry and plant as they are extremely lightweight.
  • Bare-rooted trees are cheaper as they do not come with soil and pots.
  • Planting bare-rooted trees in the winter follows the natural pattern of the seasons.
