Miscanthus sinensis Gracillimus is a splendid ornamental grass that will bring a year-round interest to your garden. Emerging fresh shoots in spring transform into elegant, wind-swaying foliage, creating a dynamic landscape. By late summer, towering flower plumes flushed with pale purple rise above the foliage, eventually turning silver and adding a soft, fluffy texture. As autumn arrives, the foliage takes on bronze tones, fading to straw colour in winter. Despite the seasonal changes, the plant maintains its architectural form, looking particularly stunning when frosted or lightly dusted with snow.

This robust grass grows into a dense, fountain-like clump, reaching heights of 1.5-1.8m and widths up to 1.2m. It thrives in sunny locations with fertile, moist, free-draining soils. Versatile in its uses, Gracillimus can serve as an accent plant, a screen, or even an informal hedge. It's also well-suited for coastal gardens and is generally free from pests and diseases.

Carex secta, commonly known as Pukio, Makura or swamp sedge, is a robust perennial grass native to New Zealand, renowned for its lush, bright green, strap-like leaves and dense clumping habit. It naturally occurs in wetlands and swampy areas, indicating its preference for moist, boggy conditions.

In the garden, Carex secta is ideal for creating naturalistic plantings, especially in wetland or water garden settings. It can be used for erosion control, along waterways, or in areas where water accumulates, providing both aesthetic appeal and environmental benefits. 

Makura prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in wet, boggy soils, making it a perfect choice for areas that are difficult to plant due to excessive moisture. It can also adapt to drier conditions once established, but it truly excels in environments that mimic its natural wetland habitat. When planting, a spacing of about 50-70cm apart is recommended to allow the plants to spread and form a thick, lush mass.

The mature: Can reach heights of up to 1-2m with a similar spread.

Cornus Eddies White Wonder is a stunning deciduous tree known for its large, showy white flowers that appear in spring. This hybrid dogwood, a cross between Cornus florida and Cornus nuttallii, boasts impressive floral displays that stand out against its green foliage. In autumn, the leaves turn a beautiful reddish-purple, adding seasonal interest to the garden. Cornus Eddies White Wonder is perfect for creating a focal point in mixed borders, woodland gardens, or as a standalone specimen.

Thriving in full sun to partial shade, Cornus Eddies White Wonder prefers well-drained, fertile soil with moderate moisture levels. It is tolerant of a range of soil types, including sandy and loamy soils, but benefits from regular watering, especially during dry periods. Planting should allow for adequate air circulation, with spacing of about 4-5 metres between trees. At maturity, this dogwood reaches a height of approximately 4-6 metres and spreads about 3-4 metres wide, forming an elegant, rounded canopy. Its striking flowers, followed by attractive autumn foliage, make it a standout choice for year-round garden interest.

Phormium Emerald Gem is a compact, tidy New Zealand flax with vibrant green, sword-like leaves that form a neat, arching clump. Smaller than many other Phormium varieties, it offers strong visual structure without overwhelming nearby plants. Its fresh foliage remains attractive year-round, adding bold texture and colour to garden compositions.

Perfect for edging, mass planting, containers, or mixed borders. Suits coastal, contemporary, native, and low-maintenance garden styles.

Performs best in full sun to light shade and thrives in well-drained soils. Drought-tolerant once established but benefits from occasional watering in extended dry periods. Space plants about 60 cm apart to maintain shape and airflow.

Reaches approximately 60 cm tall and 60–80 cm wide, forming a dense, architectural mound.
