Aloe vera is a well-known and highly versatile succulent, celebrated for its thick, fleshy green leaves filled with a soothing gel used in skincare and health remedies. The rosettes form a striking, architectural shape, and during late winter to early spring, it produces tall spikes of tubular yellow or orange flowers, attracting pollinators like bees and birds. Its hardy and low-maintenance nature makes it a favourite for both indoor and outdoor gardens.

Perfect for Mediterranean, tropical, or contemporary gardens, as well as container planting. Thrives in full sun to partial shade and requires well-draining soil. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Space plants 30–40 cm apart for a bold display or grow individually in pots for a sculptural accent.

Reaches a mature height of 60–80 cm and spreads approximately 50–60 cm, forming a striking yet practical addition to any garden or home.

Trimming: Remove dead, damaged, or wilted leaves with a clean, sharp knife or scissors. Trim flower stalks after flowering to redirect energy to the plant.

Fertilising: Apply a diluted cactus or succulent fertiliser in spring and summer, once a month, to encourage healthy growth. Avoid fertilising in autumn and winter.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, ensuring the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot. Reduce watering during cooler months.

Pest Control: Check for pests such as mealybugs or aphids on leaves and in crevices. Wipe off pests with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol or use insecticidal soap.

Disease Management: Overwatering can cause root rot. Look for signs like soft, mushy leaves or a foul odour. Remove affected roots and repot in fresh, well-draining soil.
