Aloe jucunda is a small, rare succulent native to Somalia, prized for its compact rosettes of triangular, glossy green leaves adorned with delicate white spots and soft serrated edges. In summer, it produces slender flower stalks with tubular pink to coral-coloured flowers that attract pollinators, adding seasonal charm. Its manageable size and striking appearance make it a collector’s favourite for both indoor and outdoor displays.
Perfect for rock gardens, succulent collections, or as a striking feature in pots. Thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-draining soil. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings to avoid overwatering. Plant with 10–15 cm spacing for a compact grouping or as a standalone accent.
Reaches a mature height of 10–15 cm and spreads to about 15–20 cm, making it an ideal choice for small spaces or tabletop displays.
Trimming: Remove dead, damaged, or wilted leaves with a clean, sharp knife or scissors. Trim flower stalks after flowering to redirect energy to the plant.
Fertilising: Apply a diluted cactus or succulent fertiliser in spring and summer, once a month, to encourage healthy growth. Avoid fertilising in autumn and winter.
Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, ensuring the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot. Reduce watering during cooler months.
Pest Control: Check for pests such as mealybugs or aphids on leaves and in crevices. Wipe off pests with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol or use insecticidal soap.
Disease Management: Overwatering can cause root rot. Look for signs like soft, mushy leaves or a foul odour. Remove affected roots and repot in fresh, well-draining soil.
