One of the earliest-flowering heathers, this variety brings brightness to the garden from late winter through early spring. Its bell-shaped flowers stand out against its fine, needle-like green foliage, creating a carpet of white that lights up rockeries, borders, or containers.
Perfect for cottage gardens, alpine settings, or as ground cover, Erica Springwood White works beautifully in mass plantings or as an edging plant along pathways. Its early flowering period provides a welcome touch of colour during cooler months when other plants are still dormant. This heather is also highly effective in ericaceous borders, alongside other acid-loving plants like rhododendrons or azaleas. Additionally, its nectar-rich flowers attract bees, providing an early food source for pollinators.
Erica Springwood White thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained, acidic soil, though it can tolerate slightly neutral conditions. Space plants about 30 to 40 centimetres apart to allow for their spreading nature.
At maturity, Erica Springwood White reaches a height of 15 to 20 centimetres, with a spread of 60 to 75 centimetres, forming a soft, low-growing mat of evergreen foliage. Its compact size and long flowering season make it an excellent choice for bringing year-round interest and early-season colour to the garden.
