Chaenomeles Alarm

Chaenomeles Alarm is a striking deciduous shrub, commonly known as the Flowering Quince. It is celebrated for its early spring display of vivid red, cup-shaped flowers that enliven the garden before the foliage emerges. Following the blooms, the shrub produces aromatic, greenish-yellow fruit that can be used in preserves. The glossy, green leaves that appear after flowering provide a lush backdrop for other plants throughout the growing season. Alarm is a hardy and low-maintenance variety that adapts well to a range of soil types, preferring full sun to partial shade. It is an excellent choice for mixed borders, foundation plantings or as a colorful hedge. Grows to approx. 1.5m.
