Notify MeAzalea Cannons Double is a compact evergreen azalea distinguished by its fully double, soft peach-pink flowers with a delicate ruffled form. Blooming in mid to late Spring, the abundant blooms create a romantic, layered effect that pairs beautifully with its glossy green foliage.
Ideal for shaded borders, cottage gardens, or container planting, Cannons Double thrives in part shade with moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Regular watering and protection from strong afternoon sun will ensure healthy growth and flowering. Space plants 70–90cm apart for best form and coverage.
Reaches approximately 90cm tall and wide, forming a neat, bushy shrub with uniquely textured flowers and seasonal appeal.
Trimming: Lightly prune just after flowering to maintain shape and remove any dead or straggly growth. Avoid hard pruning, as azaleas flower on old wood.
Deadheading: Remove spent flowers by hand to tidy the plant and encourage better flowering the following season.
Fertilising: Use an acid-loving plant fertiliser in early spring and again after flowering. Avoid overfeeding, as this can damage roots.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during establishment and dry periods. Azaleas prefer cool, moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Mulch annually to retain moisture and regulate temperature.
Pest Control: Watch for lace bugs, thrips, and spider mites—especially in warm, dry weather. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil.
Disease Management: Susceptible to petal blight and root rot. Remove affected flowers or foliage promptly, and ensure good drainage and airflow. Avoid overhead watering to help prevent fungal issues.
