Notify MeAbelia Francis Mason, also known as the Golden Abelia, is an attractive semi-evergreen shrub that features a mosaic of yellow and green leaves on gracefully arching reddish-brown stems. Trumpet-shaped pinkish-white flowers bloom profusely in summer and early autumn.
The thicket-like habit means that the plant is able to be clipped into a hedge or it is an ideal choice for borders, mixed shrubbery, or standalone specimens in landscape design. It thrives in well-drained soils and prefers a position where it can receive full sun to part shade, ensuring the most vibrant leaf coloration. While it boasts a naturally elegant shape, light pruning in late spring helps maintain its compact form and stimulates robust new growth. Frost hardy.

Watering: Water deeply during the establishment phase and in prolonged dry periods. Abelia is generally drought-tolerant once established.
Pest Control: Check for aphids and scale insects, especially during warmer months. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil.
Disease Management: Abelia is relatively disease-resistant but may experience powdery mildew in humid conditions. Ensure good air circulation and remove affected leaves promptly. Use fungicides if the problem persists.
