Rose St Hilda's Rose

'St. Hilda's Rose' is a graceful hybrid tea rose featuring soft, creamy-white flowers with a delicate blush of pink at the edges. These large, lightly fragrant blooms appear repeatedly from late spring through to early autumn, offering timeless beauty throughout the season. The dark green, glossy foliage provides an elegant contrast to the flowers, and the plant demonstrates good disease resistance. This rose is perfect for formal gardens, mixed borders, or as a statement feature in memorial or tribute gardens. It also makes an excellent cutting rose, ideal for creating serene indoor arrangements. For optimal growth, plant in full sun with fertile, well-draining soil and water regularly. Ensure adequate spacing to promote healthy airflow around the plant. At full maturity, 'St. Hilda's Rose' grows to approximately 1–1.2 metres in height and spreads to about 80 cm, forming an upright, classic rose shape that suits a wide range of garden styles.

Trimming: Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth starts. Remove dead, weak, or crossing stems to improve airflow and structure. Lightly trim after the first flowering flush to encourage repeat blooms.

Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flowers to promote continuous flowering. Cut just above a healthy leaf set to stimulate new growth.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced rose fertiliser in early spring as new growth appears. Feed again after the first major flowering and once more in late summer to support healthy blooms.

Watering: Water deeply once or twice a week during dry spells, ensuring the soil stays moist but well-drained. Newly planted roses need consistent watering until established.

Pest Control: Watch for aphids, spider mites, and thrips. Use insecticidal soap, neem oil, or encourage natural predators like ladybirds to manage infestations.

Disease Management: Susceptible to black spot and powdery mildew. Improve air circulation by spacing plants properly and removing fallen leaves. Apply a fungicide if needed and avoid overhead watering to reduce disease risk.
