Rose 'Blush Pink Carpet' is a low-growing, ground cover rose celebrated for its masses of soft blush pink, semi-double flowers that appear continuously from late spring through to autumn. The blooms are lightly scented and sit above glossy, dark green foliage that offers excellent disease resistance. With a spreading, compact habit reaching around 30-40 cm high and up to 80-100 cm wide, it’s ideal for borders, banks, retaining walls, and containers in cottage, formal, and low-maintenance garden styles.
Plant in full sun with well-draining, fertile soil. Space plants 60-80 cm apart for ground coverage. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming. Water regularly during dry periods and apply a balanced rose fertiliser in spring and mid-summer. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote fresh growth. Hardy and low-maintenance once established.
Trimming: Lightly prune in late winter or early spring to shape the plant and remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. A light summer trim after the first major flush can encourage repeat flowering and maintain a tidy form.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent blooms to prolong the flowering season and encourage further flushes.
Fertilising: Feed in early spring with a rose-specific or balanced slow-release fertiliser. Apply a second feed after the first flush of flowers to support continued blooming through summer.
Watering: Water deeply and regularly during establishment and in dry spells. Mulch around the base to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and keep roots cool. Avoid overhead watering to reduce disease risk.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, thrips, and caterpillars. Treat infestations early with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Watch for signs of rose slug (sawfly larvae) on the undersides of leaves.
Disease Management: Ensure good air circulation to prevent black spot, powdery mildew, and rust. Remove and dispose of any affected leaves. Water at the base of the plant and avoid wetting the foliage. Apply a preventative fungicide if disease pressure is high.
