Verbena Superbena Storm Burst

Verbena Superbena Storm Burst is a vigorous, trailing perennial often grown as an annual, known for its unique lavender-grey flowers with pale centres that bloom continuously from spring through to autumn. Its soft, cool-toned colouring and excellent mildew resistance make it a standout in hanging baskets, containers, and sunny borders. With a mounding, trailing habit reaching around 20-30 cm high and spreading or trailing up to 60 cm wide, it suits cottage, coastal, and contemporary garden styles.

Thrives in full sun with well-draining soil. Space plants 30-40 cm apart for healthy growth and airflow. Drought-tolerant once established and self-cleaning-no deadheading required. Light trimming mid-season can help maintain shape and encourage ongoing flowering. Feed regularly and protect from frost for best performance.

Trimming: Lightly trim or pinch back stems early in the season to encourage a compact, bushy shape. If the plant becomes leggy later in the season, cut back by about one-third to refresh growth and promote further flowering.

Deadheading: Not necessary, as this variety is self-cleaning. However, removing the occasional spent bloom can help keep the plant looking neat.

Fertilising: Feed every 1-2 weeks during the growing season with a high-potassium liquid fertiliser (e.g. tomato feed), especially when grown in containers or hanging baskets, to support continuous, vigorous flowering.

Watering: Water regularly to maintain evenly moist, well-drained soil. Avoid overwatering or allowing the soil to dry out completely-consistent moisture supports the best flowering.

Pest Control: Watch for aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Treat infestations early with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Disease Management: Ensure good air circulation to prevent powdery mildew and other fungal issues. Avoid overhead watering and promptly remove any yellowing or diseased foliage. Use free-draining soil to prevent root rot, especially in containers.
