Verbena Superbena Royale Raspberry
Notify MeVerbena Superbena Royale Raspberry is a compact, trailing perennial grown as an annual, producing rich raspberry-pink flower clusters from spring through to late autumn. Its vibrant colour and spreading habit make it ideal for hanging baskets, containers, and sunny garden edges.
Plant in full sun with free-draining soil. Tolerates heat, light frost, and coastal conditions. Water regularly and feed every two weeks during the growing season to maintain strong flowering. No deadheading required. Space plants 40 to 50 centimetres apart for best coverage.
Grows to around 25 to 30 centimetres tall and spreads or trails up to 60 centimetres wide.
Trimming: Trim back stems lightly during the season to encourage bushier growth and maintain a tidy shape. A mid-season cutback can help refresh the plant and promote further flowering.
Deadheading: Not necessary, as this variety is self-cleaning. However, removing occasional spent flowers can enhance overall appearance.
Fertilising: Apply a slow-release fertiliser at planting. Supplement with a high-potassium liquid feed every two weeks during the flowering season to support vigorous growth and flowering.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment and in dry periods. Keep soil evenly moist but ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, whiteflies, and spider mites. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Provide good airflow and avoid overhead watering to prevent powdery mildew and other fungal issues. Use well-drained soil and remove any discoloured or damaged foliage promptly.
