Salvia Color Spires Pink Dawn

Salvia Color Spires Pink Dawn is a hardy, clump-forming perennial featuring upright spikes of soft shell-pink flowers held above aromatic green foliage. Flowering from late spring into early summer-and often reblooming with deadheading-it attracts bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. With a tidy, upright habit reaching around 40-50 cm high and 35-45 cm wide, it’s ideal for cottage, prairie, and pollinator-friendly garden styles.

Plant in full sun with well-draining soil. Space plants 30-40 cm apart for good airflow and strong growth. Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage reblooming. Drought-tolerant once established, but benefits from regular watering during extended dry periods. Cut back in late autumn or early spring to maintain a compact form.

Trimming: Cut back flower stems after the first flush to encourage a second round of flowering and maintain a compact shape. In late autumn or early spring, cut the plant back to just above ground level to refresh growth.

Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flower spikes to prolong the flowering season and keep the plant tidy.

Fertilising: Feed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced or high-potassium liquid fertiliser to support strong flowering and healthy foliage.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment and dry spells. Salvia prefers free-draining soil and is moderately drought-tolerant once established-avoid overwatering.

Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant, but monitor for aphids or whiteflies on new growth. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.

Disease Management: Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues such as powdery mildew. Avoid overhead watering and remove any affected foliage promptly. Plant in well-drained soil to reduce the risk of root rot.
