Notify MeRanunculus Bloomingdale is a compact, early-flowering variety known for its large, fully double flowers in a vibrant mix of colours, including red, yellow, orange, pink, and white. Flowering from mid to late spring, it adds a bold, cheerful presence to containers, borders, and cut flower arrangements. With a tidy growth habit reaching around 25-30 cm high and wide, it suits cottage, formal, and seasonal display gardens.
Plant in full sun with well-draining, fertile soil. Space plants 20-25 cm apart to allow for airflow and a full flowering display. Keep soil evenly moist during active growth but avoid waterlogging. Remove spent flowers to encourage continued flowering throughout the season.
Trimming: Remove yellowing foliage and spent flower stems as they appear to maintain a tidy plant and redirect energy into tuber development.
Deadheading: Regular deadheading encourages prolonged flowering and keeps the plant looking neat.
Fertilising: Feed fortnightly during the growing and flowering season with a high-potassium liquid fertiliser to support strong blooms.
Watering: Water regularly during the growing period, keeping the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Reduce watering once the foliage begins to die back after flowering.
Pest Control: Watch for aphids and thrips, which can distort flowers and foliage. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil as needed.
Disease Management: Ensure good drainage to prevent tuber rot. Avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of powdery mildew or botrytis; remove any affected leaves promptly and maintain good air circulation.
