The small, self-cleaning flowers are produced in abundance, creating a dense, cascading display perfect for hanging baskets, containers, and garden edges. With a spreading habit reaching around 20-30 cm high and trailing up to 60 cm wide, it suits cottage, contemporary, and coastal garden styles.
Thrives in full sun with well-draining, fertile soil. Space plants 25-30 cm apart in garden beds or allow room to trail in containers. Water regularly and feed every few weeks for best performance. No deadheading is required, but occasional light trimming can encourage fresh growth and extended flowering. Protect from frost.
Trimming: Lightly trim back in midsummer if the plant becomes leggy to encourage bushier growth and continuous flowering. Occasional pinching of tips early in the season can also help maintain a compact shape.
Deadheading: Not necessary, as this variety is self-cleaning. However, removing the odd spent bloom can enhance tidiness, especially in containers.
Fertilising: Feed every 1-2 weeks with a high-potassium liquid fertiliser (such as tomato food) throughout the growing season to support prolific flowering, especially in pots or hanging baskets.
Watering: Water regularly to keep soil consistently moist but well-drained. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, particularly during hot or windy weather. Container-grown plants may need daily watering in summer.
Pest Control: Watch for aphids, whiteflies, and thrips. Treat early with insecticidal soap or neem oil if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Ensure good airflow and avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of fungal issues such as powdery mildew or botrytis. Remove any yellowing or damaged foliage promptly and use free-draining soil.
