Perfect for cottage, contemporary, or coastal gardens, Petunia Supertunia Lovie Dovie is ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, containers, or garden borders. It thrives in full sun with free-draining soil and benefits from regular feeding to support its long flowering season. Space approximately 30-40 cm apart to allow for trailing spread.
Forms a trailing plant approximately 25-30 cm high and up to 60 cm wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim back stems mid-season or if the plant becomes leggy to encourage fresh growth and continuous flowering. No need for hard pruning - just regular maintenance keeps it compact and full.
Deadheading: Not required, as Supertunia Lovie Dovie is self-cleaning. However, removing spent flowers occasionally can improve appearance and plant vigour.
Fertilising: Feed every 1-2 weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season for best performance, especially in containers. Alternatively, use a slow-release fertiliser in spring and supplement as needed.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water thoroughly when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry, especially during hot weather. Ensure containers have good drainage.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, whiteflies, and caterpillars. Treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Provide good airflow and avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of fungal issues like powdery mildew or botrytis. Remove any yellowing or diseased foliage promptly.
