Osteospermum Summersmile Light Pink
Notify MeOsteospermum Summersmile Light Pink is a compact, evergreen perennial that produces masses of soft light pink daisy-like flowers with a subtle central eye, flowering from early Spring through to late Autumn. Its tidy, mounding habit and long flowering season make it perfect for adding gentle colour and texture to sunny garden spaces.
Ideal for cottage, coastal, or contemporary gardens, Osteospermum Summersmile Light Pink is well-suited to borders, containers, and edging. It thrives in full sun with free-draining soil and is tolerant of dry conditions once established. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage continuous blooming. Space approximately 30-40 cm apart to allow for even coverage.
Forms a neat, compact plant approximately 25-30 cm high and 30-35 cm wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim after each flowering flush to maintain a compact shape and encourage repeat flowering. In late autumn, cut back by one-third if needed to tidy the plant before winter.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flowers to promote continuous flowering and keep the plant looking tidy.
Fertilising: Feed every 3-4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser. In containers, apply a slow-release fertiliser in early spring and top up as needed.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, Summersmile Light Pink is moderately drought tolerant but flowers best with consistent moisture. Avoid waterlogging - ensure free-draining soil.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free. Monitor for aphids or whiteflies - treat with insecticidal soap if required.
Disease Management: Ensure good air circulation to prevent powdery mildew and fungal leaf spots. Avoid overhead watering and remove any yellowing or diseased foliage promptly. Plant in well-drained soil to prevent root rot.
