Nepeta Purrsian Blue

Nepeta Purrsian Blue is a compact, clump-forming perennial prized for its aromatic grey-green foliage and abundant spikes of soft lavender-blue flowers that appear from late Spring through to early Autumn. This long-flowering variety is highly attractive to bees and pollinators, adding movement and texture to garden borders.

Ideal for cottage, Mediterranean, or coastal gardens, Nepeta Purrsian Blue is perfect for edging, mass planting, or mixed perennial beds. It thrives in full sun with free-draining soil and is drought-tolerant once established. Trim lightly after flowering to encourage fresh growth and continued flowering. Space approximately 30-40 cm apart for best coverage.

Forms a compact, bushy plant approximately 35 cm high and 45 cm wide.

Trimming: Shear back by about one-third after the first major flowering flush to encourage a tidy habit and a second round of flowers. Cut back to the base in late autumn or early spring to rejuvenate growth.

Deadheading: Not strictly necessary, but removing spent flower spikes can improve appearance and extend the flowering period.

Fertilising: Apply a light dose of balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring. Avoid overfeeding, as excessive nutrients can lead to leggy growth with fewer flowers.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, Purrsian Blue is drought tolerant and prefers drier conditions - water only during prolonged dry spells.

Pest Control: Generally pest-free and unbothered by deer or rabbits. Occasionally, aphids may appear - treat with insecticidal soap if necessary.

Disease Management: Rarely affected by disease. Ensure well-draining soil to prevent root rot and avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of mildew. Trim away any yellowing or damaged foliage to maintain good air circulation.
