Nemesia Aromance Mulberry
Notify MeNemesia Aromance Mulberry is a compact, evergreen perennial featuring richly coloured mulberry-purple flowers with a soft fragrance. Flowering continuously from early Spring through to late Autumn, this variety adds long-lasting scent and colour to garden beds, pots, and baskets, even in cooler conditions.
Ideal for cottage, coastal, or contemporary gardens, Nemesia fruticans Aromance Mulberry is perfect for borders, containers, and hanging baskets. It thrives in full sun to partial shade with free-draining soil and benefits from regular deadheading to encourage continuous flowering. Space approximately 20-25 cm apart for a full, even display.
Forms a tidy, mounding plant approximately 25 cm high and 30 cm wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim back after each flush of flowers to maintain a compact shape and encourage continued flowering. Pinching back leggy stems also promotes bushier growth.
Deadheading: Not strictly necessary, as Aromance varieties are semi self-cleaning, but removing spent flowers can enhance appearance and extend the flowering period.
Fertilising: Feed every 3-4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser. In containers, apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring and supplement with liquid feed as needed.
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during warm or dry periods. While moderately drought tolerant once established, Aromance Mulberry performs best with regular watering. Ensure excellent drainage to avoid root rot.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free. Occasionally, aphids or whiteflies may appear - treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if needed.
Disease Management: Good airflow is essential to prevent powdery mildew and other fungal issues. Avoid overhead watering, and remove any yellowing or damaged foliage to keep the plant healthy.
