Lavender Sidonie

Lavender Sidonie is a compact and robust French lavender variety known for its striking deep purple flower heads topped with vivid lilac bracts. Flowering from early Spring through Summer, it offers a rich scent and vibrant colour, making it a standout in garden beds and containers. Its dense, grey-green foliage adds year-round structure and soft texture.

Ideal for borders, low hedging, containers, and accent planting. Complements Mediterranean, cottage, contemporary, and formal garden styles.

Performs best in full sun with free-draining soil. Drought-tolerant once established and dislikes excess moisture or humidity. Space plants around 40 cm apart to allow for natural growth and airflow.

Forms a rounded shrub approximately 50 cm tall and 50–60 cm wide.

Trimming: Lightly trim after flowering to encourage a bushy shape and further flowering. In late summer or early autumn, give a slightly harder prune to keep the plant compact—avoid cutting into old wood.

Deadheading: Remove spent flower spikes regularly to prolong the flowering period and maintain a neat appearance.

Fertilising: Feed in early spring with a low-nitrogen, slow-release fertiliser to support healthy flowering. Avoid rich fertilisers which may reduce flower production.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, Sidonie is drought-tolerant and thrives in dry, well-drained soils. Avoid overwatering, particularly in cool or humid conditions.

Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant. Check young growth for aphids, especially in spring, and treat with insecticidal soap if needed.

Disease Management: Prone to root rot in poorly drained soils. Ensure excellent drainage and avoid overhead watering. Promote good airflow to reduce the risk of fungal diseases, and promptly remove any affected foliage.
