Trimming: Trim back dead or damaged leaves throughout the growing season to keep the plant looking tidy. In late autumn, after the first frost, cut back all foliage to the ground to prepare the plant for winter dormancy.

Deadheading: Remove spent flower stalks after flowering to direct the plant's energy back into leaf growth and to maintain a neat appearance.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring as new growth begins. An additional feeding in midsummer can help maintain vigour, but avoid excessive fertilisation as this can lead to leaf scorch.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply and regularly, especially during dry periods, to ensure the roots receive adequate moisture. Mulching can help retain soil moisture and reduce watering frequency.

Pest Control: Watch for slugs and snails, which are common pests for Hostas. Use organic slug pellets, copper barriers, or traps to protect the plants. Monitor for aphids and treat infestations with insecticidal soap if necessary.

Disease Management: Hosta So Sweet is generally disease-resistant but can be susceptible to fungal issues such as crown rot and leaf spot if overwatered or planted in poorly drained soil. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to minimise these risks. If signs of disease appear, remove affected foliage and apply a suitable fungicide.
