Heuchera Northern Exposure Red

Heuchera Northern Exposure Red is a robust, clump-forming perennial with vibrant red foliage that deepens to burgundy tones as the seasons change. From late Spring through early Summer, soft white flowers appear on slender stems above the colourful leaves, creating a fresh and balanced contrast. Bred for cold hardiness and longevity, this variety delivers consistent colour and texture year-round.

Perfect for cottage, woodland, or modern garden styles, Heuchera Northern Exposure Red suits shaded borders, underplanting, or mixed containers. It thrives in partial to full shade with moist, free-draining soil. Space approximately 35-40 cm apart to promote healthy growth and airflow.

Forms a compact, mounded clump approximately 30 cm high and 40 cm wide.

Trimming: Remove old, damaged, or tired leaves throughout the year to keep the foliage fresh. Cut back any remaining old growth in late winter or early spring to promote new growth.

Deadheading: Snip off spent flower stems to tidy the plant and encourage a possible second, lighter flowering.

Fertilising: Feed in early spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser. Avoid overfeeding, as excessive nutrients can dull the foliage colour and cause leggy growth.

Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist during the establishment phase. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods-especially in warmer months. Ensure free-draining soil to avoid crown rot.

Pest Control: Check regularly for signs of vine weevils, particularly in container-grown plants. Use biological controls such as nematodes if larvae are present.

Disease Management: Generally resilient, though prone to crown rot in poorly drained or waterlogged soil. Improve drainage and avoid overhead watering. Maintain good spacing for airflow to prevent fungal issues.
