Hemerocallis Bettylen
Notify MeHemerocallis Bettylen is a hardy, clump-forming perennial prized for its large, vibrant flowers and reliable summer performance. From early to mid-Summer, it produces striking raspberry-pink flowers with a soft yellow throat, held above arching, strap-like green foliage. Each flower lasts just one day, but the plant produces many buds over a long flowering period.
Ideal for cottage, coastal, or contemporary gardens, Hemerocallis Bettylen is perfect for borders, mass planting, or low-maintenance perennial beds. It thrives in full sun to light shade with free-draining soil and moderate moisture. Tolerant of heat, dry spells, and a range of soil types. Space approximately 40-50 cm apart to allow for mature spread.
Forms a tidy, clump-forming plant approximately 60 cm high and 50 cm wide.
Trimming: Remove spent flower stems at the base once flowering has finished to tidy the plant. In late autumn or early spring, cut back old foliage to allow room for fresh new growth.
Deadheading: Deadhead daily during the flowering season by removing individual spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering and maintain a neat appearance.
Fertilising: Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser. A second light feed in midsummer can support prolonged flowering.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment and throughout dry periods, especially during flowering. While Bettylen is moderately drought tolerant, consistent moisture promotes better bloom performance.
Pest Control: Generally low-maintenance, but keep an eye out for aphids, thrips, or slugs. Use insecticidal soap or slug bait if needed.
Disease Management: Daylilies are mostly disease-resistant. However, good air circulation helps prevent rust and leaf streak. Remove any affected foliage promptly and avoid overhead watering to minimise fungal problems.
