Helleborus Molly's White
Notify MeHelleborus Molly's White is a robust, evergreen perennial that produces elegant white flowers with a soft green tint from late Winter through to mid-Spring. Held upright on sturdy stems above attractive marbled foliage, the long-lasting flowers add brightness and structure to shaded areas when few other plants are flowering.
Ideal for woodland, cottage, or contemporary gardens, Helleborus Molly's White is well-suited to shaded borders, underplanting, or container displays. It performs best in partial to full shade with moist, free-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Space approximately 40-50 cm apart to ensure healthy growth and airflow.
Forms a strong, clump-forming plant approximately 45 cm high and 60 cm wide.
Trimming: Remove old and tired foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth and flowers emerge. This enhances the display and helps prevent disease.
Deadheading: Cut off spent flowers once they fade to maintain a neat appearance and reduce self-seeding, unless seedlings are desired.
Fertilising: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. A light feed in late summer can help support root and bud development for the next flowering season.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment period. Once established, Molly’s White is fairly drought tolerant but will benefit from deep watering during extended dry spells.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids and hellebore aphids on new growth and flower stems-treat with insecticidal soap if needed. Slugs and snails may also feed on young leaves.
Disease Management: Susceptible to Hellebore leaf spot. Remove and dispose of any spotted or damaged leaves promptly. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to minimise fungal disease. Remove old foliage annually to keep plants healthy.
