The deep red flowers appear throughout winter and early spring, offering vibrant colour when few other plants are flowering. The outward-facing flowers are held above lush, deep green foliage, which remains attractive year-round.
This hellebore thrives in semi-shade and prefers humus-rich, well-drained soil. It is perfect for woodland, cottage, and winter gardens, particularly under trees or in shaded borders. Plant around 60 cm apart to ensure good coverage.
At maturity, Helleborus Ice N Roses Early Red reaches approximately 60 cm in height and spreads to about 100 cm, creating a full, clump-forming habit that provides excellent ground coverage and adds structure to garden beds.
Trimming: Trim back old leaves in late winter or early spring before new growth appears. This helps reduce the risk of disease and improves the appearance of the plant.
Deadheading: Remove spent flowers to encourage new flowering and maintain a tidy appearance. Cut the flower stems back to the base.

Disease Management: Be vigilant for signs of leaf spot and downy mildew. Leaf spot appears as dark spots on leaves, and downy mildew as a white or greyish coating. Treat with appropriate fungicides and ensure good air circulation. Remove and dispose of any infected foliage to prevent the spread of disease.
