Helleborus Hannah's Blush
Notify MeHelleborus Hannah's Blush is a charming, evergreen perennial that produces soft blush-pink flowers with delicate veining from late Winter through to mid-Spring. The nodding blooms are held above attractive marbled foliage, offering elegant structure and gentle colour when little else is flowering in the garden.
Ideal for woodland, cottage, or shaded contemporary gardens, Helleborus Hannah's Blush is perfect for underplanting, shaded borders, or feature containers. It thrives in partial to full shade with moist, free-draining soil rich in organic matter. Space approximately 40-50 cm apart to allow for healthy growth and good air movement.
Forms a neat, clump-forming plant approximately 45 cm high and 60 cm wide.
Trimming: In late winter or early spring, cut back old and weathered foliage before new growth and flowers emerge. This tidies the plant and reduces the risk of disease.
Deadheading: Remove spent flowers as they fade to maintain a neat appearance and prevent unwanted self-seeding.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. A second light feed in late summer can encourage strong root and bud development for the following season.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, it is moderately drought tolerant, but benefits from occasional deep watering during long dry spells.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids on new growth and flower stems-treat with insecticidal soap if needed. Slugs and snails may also target young foliage.
Disease Management: Susceptible to Hellebore leaf spot-remove any marked or infected leaves and dispose of them. Ensure good air circulation, avoid overhead watering, and remove old foliage annually to prevent fungal problems.
