Geranium Clarkei Kashmir White
Notify MeGeranium clarkei 'Kashmir White' is a hardy, spreading perennial valued for its delicate white flowers, each finely veined with soft purple. Flowering from early to late summer, the flowers rise above finely divided, mid-green foliage that forms a dense, weed-suppressing carpet. Typically reaching 30 to 40 cm high and spreading up to 60 cm wide, it is ideal for cottage, informal, woodland, and low-maintenance garden styles.
Plant in full sun to partial shade with moist, free-draining soil. Tolerates a range of conditions and is drought-resistant once established. Space plants 40 to 50 cm apart for good coverage. Cut back after flowering to encourage fresh foliage and a possible second flush of flowers. A reliable, long-season perennial that adds soft colour and excellent ground cover to a variety of garden settings.
Trimming: Shear back after the first main flowering flush in mid to late summer to encourage tidy regrowth and potentially a second, lighter flowering. In early spring, remove any winter-damaged or dead growth.
Deadheading: Regular deadheading will extend the flowering season and reduce self-seeding, helping maintain a tidy clump.
Fertilising: Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser. In nutrient-poor soils, a light liquid feed after trimming can support renewed growth.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, Geranium clarkei ‘Kashmir White’ is tolerant of short dry spells but performs best with consistent moisture in free-draining soil.
Pest Control: Usually pest-free. Slugs may occasionally target new growth-use organic controls if necessary.
Disease Management: Ensure good airflow to prevent powdery mildew or leaf spot. Avoid overhead watering and remove any discoloured or diseased foliage promptly to maintain overall plant health. Divide clumps every 3-4 years to prevent overcrowding.
